Bronze – the material that evolves with its owner


The equipment of Eilean, Panerai's classic ketch, inspired the Maison to use bronze to create a distinctive timepiece: a symbol of the brand's maritime heritage. First used in 2011 on the PAM00382, Panerai’s bronze watches naturally develop a patina shaped by air, moisture, and wear, evolving with the owner over time, without affecting strength and resistance.

Panerai Carbotech™ is created by compressing long carbon-fiber sheets with PEEK under high temperature and pressure. Panerai ceramic is produced from zirconium oxide powder molded by a sintering process: 9 times harder and 25% lighter than steel, highly resistant to scratches and corrosion. Since the 1910s, Panerai developed precision instruments for the Royal Italian Navy. From the 1950s, the supply also included navigational tools such as wrist compasses for underwater orientation and depth gauges used to monitor descent. ​


The left-handed watch, worn on the right wrist – hence the name Destro – was conceived to keep the left hand free to operate these instruments, including the Elux torch, reflecting a design shaped by practical military use.

Bronze – the material that evolves with its owner


The equipment of Eilean, Panerai's classic ketch, inspired the Maison to use bronze to create a distinctive timepiece: a symbol of the brand's maritime heritage. First used in 2011 on the PAM00382, Panerai’s bronze watches naturally develop a patina shaped by air, moisture, and wear, evolving with the owner over time, without affecting strength and resistance. ​

Carbotech™ - 80% lighter than steel


Panerai Carbotech™ is created by compressing long carbon-fiber sheets with PEEK under high temperature and pressure. Seven carbon-PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone) layers per millimeter are stacked with fibers rotated at 45°, increasing the material's technical resistance. 80% lighter than steel, while durable at the same time, Carbotech™ is highly resistant to corrosion and displays a distinctive surface pattern on every case.​

Ceramic - 9 times harder and 25% lighter than steel


Panerai ceramic is produced from zirconium oxide powder molded by a sintering process: 9 times harder and 25% lighter than steel, highly resistant to scratches and corrosion. By sintering powder at temperatures above 1,500 °C, the material shrinks before being finished with diamond tools for precise geometry. A remarkable level of technicity and advanced manufacturing processes. ​

Forged Titanium – New ​40% lighter than steel​


Forged titanium is created by bonding different titanium alloys under heat and pressure. Once forged, finishing treatments reveal a natural wave-like pattern of contrasting grey tones and surface variations, giving each case a distinctive appearance. Luminor 31 Giorni​


The need for extended autonomy has defined Panerai's identity since the mid-1950s, driven by the requirements of military instruments. The Luminor 31 Giorni PAM01631 builds on this legacy, powered by the newly developed P.2031/S, a hand-wound skeleton movement. Born from the Laboratorio di Idee, after 7 years of research and development, the calibre reflects Panerai’s commitment to extended autonomy through multiple barrels arranged in series. ​


Each barrel delivers 9 days of power for a theoretical reserve of 36 days. Operating with low torque and in rapid rotation, this architecture reduces friction and stress on components, ensuring stable energy delivery and long-term reliability through efficiency.​

Luminor Novelties


Ref. 6152/1, conceived in the 1960s, marked a defining step in Panerai’s case design. Reinforced construction, improved visibility, enhanced luminosity, and the crown protecting bridge are now faithfully translated for the first time from a 47mm to a 44mm case. This update included new proportions, finishings, domed sapphire crystals, and open case backs to showcase movements, preserving the performance-driven design. ​

Military Tools


Since the 1910s, Panerai developed precision instruments for the Royal Italian Navy. From the 1950s, the supply also included navigational tools such as wrist compasses for underwater orientation and depth gauges used to monitor descent. ​


The left-handed watch, worn on the right wrist – hence the name Destro – was conceived to keep the left hand free to operate these instruments, including the Elux torch, reflecting a design shaped by practical military use.

Power Reserve History ​


From its earliest professional instruments, Panerai prioritized extended power reserve as a functional necessity. Large hand-wound calibres ensured reliability over prolonged periods without intervention. This approach evolved from the very first hand-wound Angelus SF 240 movement application in the mid-1950s with 8 days of autonomy to the P.5000 and the 8 Giorni architecture, culminating in the 31 Giorni calibre. ​

Chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio, titanium was introduced for the first time in the 1985 Millemetri prototype for the Italian Navy to withstand extreme conditions and resistance beyond one hundred atmospheres. This installation, an emblem of our heritage, is a reproduction of the training tank designed by Panerai in 1966 and then installed at Le Grazie (La Spezia, Italy) for combat divers and for the conventional divers of the Italian Navy. Conceived as a practical training tool, it was used to prepare divers for controlled underwater exercises, reflecting Panerai's long-standing role as an exclusive supplier of precision instruments and professional underwater equipment to the Italian Navy.
