Dreamcatcher


A massive 50-foot tall sculpture featuring huge, gracefully balanced steel beams, “Dreamcatcher” sits at the east end of Koret Quad.

Located next to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Mariposa Park includes an expansive lawn, paths, seating and a play area.


Mariposa, which means “butterfly” in Spanish, is also the theme for the park: the lawn is in the shape of a butterfly wing, while the surrounding habitat includes butterfly-attracting plant species.


The park is intended as a healing space for students, hospital staff, patients, and the community.

The Pritzker Building Physical Therapy Gym gives clinical researchers dedicated space to evaluate the ability of children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders to participate in their environment for play, exploration, and daily living skills.

The VR Lab utilizes cutting-edge technology to explore multiple areas of neuroscience research, including studies of attention, memory, perception, neuroplasticity, cognitive development, brain aging, non-invasive brain stimulation, neurofeedback, and psychedelics.

Located on the lower level, the Pritzker Building Sleep Lab hosts eight private suites and showering facilities for overnight sleep study participants.


From a centralized control center, scientists can monitor activity and collect data that will be used to further our understanding of the impact of sleep disorders on cognition and behavioral health.

Student Center and Lounge


Genentech Hall was designed to promote interaction and collaboration, so students, researchers, and faculty will find interactive lounges near each laboratory, where they have an expansive view of the lobby.


Also located here are a library and Campus Facilities Customer Service.

Therapy Gym


The Pritzker Building Physical Therapy Gym gives clinical researchers dedicated space to evaluate the ability of children with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders to participate in their environment for play, exploration, and daily living skills.


Using a variety of engaging toys and equipment, therapists help children develop the ability to navigate and interact with the world around them while improving social, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Virtual Reality Lab


The VR Lab utilizes cutting-edge technology to explore multiple areas of neuroscience research, including studies of attention, memory, perception, neuroplasticity, cognitive development, brain aging, non-invasive brain stimulation, neurofeedback, and psychedelics.


These studies are applied to advance novel approaches that better assess and improve cognition in healthy populations, as well as individuals with a broad range of medical conditions, such as ADHD, depression, and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision


At the Valley Center for Vision, various disciplines related to vision and eye health come together with the shared mission to prevent vision loss.


The Center houses many of UCSF’s eye care programs, as well as research and teaching facilities, and is the new home of the Koret Vision Clinics.

Workout Area


To motivate you on your fitness journey, the workout area at the Bakar Fitness and Recreation Center includes two floors of cardio equipment, a weight area, group class studios, an F45 studio, and racquetball courts.


Additionally, the Bakar staff offers personal training and body composition assessments. Membership, which is open to both UCSF and the surrounding community, includes this full variety of activities and services.
