Angkor Wat covers an area of 240 hectares forming a rectangle of 1470 m by 1650 m with its outlying moats. The temple itself measures 187 m by 215 m at the outer edges of its third gallery. Built in three tiers, the tower of its central century reaches a height of 58 m. The bas relief galleries forming third enclosure depict rich Hindu scriptural knowledge and its deep understanding by the ancient Khmers. Angkor Wat faces west since it is dedicated to God Vishnu who is the Lord of the the western quarter.

Angkor Wat covers an area of 240 hectares forming a rectangle of 1470 m by 1650 m with its outlying moats. The temple itself measures 187 m by 215 m at the outer edges of its third gallery. Built in three tiers, the tower of its central century reaches a height of 58 m. The bas relief galleries forming third enclosure depict rich Hindu scriptural knowledge and its deep understanding by the ancient Khmers. Angkor Wat faces west since it is dedicated to God Vishnu who is the Lord of the the western quarter.
